Installing OpenLinux 52 Getting Started Guide 1. Enter a password in the Root password field. As you type, the field displays asterisks. 2. Press tab or click in the Confirm spelling field to enter the password a second time. This allows the installation program to verify that the password is typed as you intended. When the same password has been entered in both fields, the Next button becomes active. 3. Choose Next to continue. In the next screen you define additional, “regular” users for your OpenLinux sys- tem. Because you can damage your system inadvertently when you are logged in as root, you should always log in using a regular user account based on your identity, then switch to the root login temporarily to complete system administra- tion tasks. Because you should not log in as root for your day-to-day work, this screen requires that you create at least one regular user account (see Figure 28).
